Seth Podders and Sunset

I thought I'd practice with a different cartoon style again. I wanted to go with something more reminiscent to Craig McCracken (Powerpuff Girls/ Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends) or Genndy Tartakovsky (Dexter's Laboratory). After a day and a half of sketching, I'm somewhat happy with the results.

Meet Seth Podders and Sunset!

Being born a half-man, half-octopus creature, with green skin and tentacle-like fingers, Seth Podders is a social outcast amongst the world of the 1970's. He loves Rock n' Roll music and reading poetry; his favorite singer is Alice Cooper and his favorite author is Shel Silverstein. While his hands are the most bizzare feature, they give him an edge on playing musical instruments, including his favorite, the banjo. In the public eye, Seth is a rather lonely figure. He wears oven mitts over his hands, since regular gloves won't fit them, and feels his life is unfulfilling because he cannot socialize with other people due to his appearance. But soon his life changes when he's acquainted with a young hippy chick named Sunset, who helps him come out of his shell and prove to the world he's just like everyone else.

It's not easy being GREEN.

Sunset is a hippy chick young and fresh as a spring flower. She's endures a never-ending struggle on promoting global peace by engaging in political protests and stickin' it to "The Man." Though she's a bit frantic and unstable at times, Sunset is a loving and care-free woman who's willing to help her friends and stand for their beliefs. When she comes across Seth Podders, she finds him to be rather odd at first, but soon realizes the guy is just a humble outcast like herself. As the two of them become good friends, it becomes Sunset's mission to help Seth out on becoming hip with his fellow man.
